From now on, by every monday night following a meeting, I or whoever has the minutes will upload them to this thread. So, below are the minutes for the previous two meetings.

Stefan talks too much

Acivities fair on wednesday: 4:30-6:30, who is helping.
Felix can show up at 4 but needs to leave sometime
Don can show up at 4, leave by five
Stefan can be there.
Idea: Bring Film Club overview DVD to fair - need to find it...

DKL asks about what people did during summer involving film
Adam worked for an indie film in Dallas
Emily interned at a Warner Bros production company in LA
Ted did 48-hour film proj.
Ryan worked on Mr. Sheep, about a month from completion
Felix worked at NFL Films
Stefan interned at Tribeca Film Fest.
DKL did video editing work for a CMU dept.
We talked about Vibattire - clothing that VIBRATES.
DKL also talked about a film club opportunity - making animations for products to improve senior life, from a dept at CMU. In exchange get "shiny new things."
Don posits that we will probably need a new computer
Ryan talks film fest: Holding it in April, would like a film fest committee. Meetings for like 15 minutes after reg meetings. We need web designers here. Benji knows a kid. Freeson and Felix also know how to do web design. Don reveals that our website has been moved to a Ruby on Rails framework, and tha tpieces are in place to do... whatever we want.

Things we want to do this year:
Benji has a friend who is a gay satanist, is willing to pay cash money for help to make a gay satanist film.
Steven has a friend who wants to make a film noir this year, wants help.
Stefan has an idea from Paris J'ataime. Wants to do CMU J'ataime. Wants t go full force and create a definite film, with alumnae, everything. We talk for a bit about this idea - everybody thinks it's pretty cool.
DKL suggests getting a SURG grant for film projects to be done in Spring. Suggests getting SURG, and even asking FC to help out.
Activites fair revisited:
Need flyers (DKL will handle it), someone wearing the green screen suit, need a sign
Don suggests recruiting more tech-oriented people, an initiative to get more technology involved in film making, suggests people to recruit lots o tech people.
Ryan wants to do a high school film tutoring thing, after school thing.
Don talks improv: do improv RIGHT after meeting

animation: 4 peeps, ryan brings it up

MEETING MINUTES 10/2/2009
Attendance: DKL, Don, Benji, Istvan, Adam, grad student Adam, Maria, Freeson,, Stefan, Felix, nari, steven tonti, locklynn
Waiting for some more members to arrive due to rain, talking about cheap HD videocameras
Don talks about Crank 2 use of small HD camera rigs
Don talks about his idea for festival: a website creating short, really random movie scripts. short scripts can be then glued together to create a larger movie. currently working on this idea.
mention miniDV tape purchases, special allocation of $1300 attained thus far for new computer. mentioned worth getting enough money to get 8core mac pro
DKL and felix talk about the budget and getting an excel spreadsheet together to determine budget, don also joins in the fray
dolly tracking systems: DKL found some systems online, about 400 bucks. We prefer PVC pipes over aluminum. Track is the most expensive bit, and we need some skateboard wheels, wood. Probably go to home depot, or order online. Stonti, stefan, don, all are interested in building this track system. we discuss getting a dolly tripod spreader system, also.
istvan's project: we talk a bit about istvan's dlist. Istvan met with David, the interested musician from last meeting. David is interested in doing another project and benji's seems like a right fit.
Istvan wants this sitcom to be great. It needs to be high quality and professional. He has outlined three stages of production:
Shoot, and make sure we have the story down, a quick mockup, traveling light with guerrilla filmmaking. Confirm locations and cinematography. Make adjustments during this period also. He thinks we can do this in two or three weeks.
Get quality right, get the lighting and sound issues out of the way.
Do the whole shebang
Benji suggest getting actors form the getgo. We also talk about when to shoot, and istvan wants to shoot in the spring for his rollerblading/park scene.
Making an ad for craigslist:
CMU graduate student working on
Working on a sitcom pilot in cooperation with the CMU film club. No pay.
Need actors who can pass for young professionals, preferably early 20's to early 30's

Wants teams for location scouting, story assistance, etc. Itvan is free on mondays and tuesdays.
Adam Gruber - His pitch. Format: Like titanic. Historians finding info for history book. One guy interviewed tells story about swine flu epidemic of 2009. As he tells story, he is a student at CMU who caught swine flu. He gets put in quarantine. Movie characters treat this as a huge deal to comedic effect.
Benji - Ordered 124 fake teeth off bay. needs this completely done by the end of the semester, needs somebody with a downstairs bedroom with a window. Wants to shoot it he next four weeks. may use music composer David.

Addition to above post:
Film club Alumni Adam Howard talks after meeting about helping out when he can with shoots from time to time, and will be borrowing with permission lighting equipment from time to time.

We have the gift cards for last year's film festival.
Nidhi has researched and gotten us a shopping list for DIY track system. Ryan suggests we have room on the dolly for a operator, so film may work.
Steve suggests using a wheelchair with deflated wheels.
We discuss how the track system will be made, why the materials are used, basically plotting out how we can make it.
16 feet of track = 32 feet of pvc piping. 4 feet chunks of pvc.
Midsemester break - decided to meet on tuesday at 9
Istvan's project - Had a first meeting but no one really showed up. He wants to go back to original plan of doing a mock-shooting before getting actors, as a more educational thing.
We settled some dlist stuff. Everyone should be getting an email about that. We'll be having a meeting regarding istvan's thing after the film club meeting on tuesday.
Ryan is interested in acting in Felix's film. Felix makes an intense faux pas. It is decided that Diezel will probably find a girl. This month will probably not be good for shooting the film.
Next meeting: Tepper room 388.
FILM FESTIVAL MEETING
weekend long film festival is proposed due to multiple festival ideas
1st Festival Stefan's "CMU I love you" festival idea
3 day long festival, may need cmuTV to help staff it
2nd festival would be the national student film festival, as per usual
3rd festival would be the automation festival
get funding/help from CS department
create a script generator
connect each film with a "exit"/"entrance"
all under heading of "CMU 17th Annual Student Film Festival"
Ryan will be creating the site. Freeson can help with logos. Felix do press release.
Location?
Hold during Carnival? Sat? Thurs? Hold in main tent?
Hold in main tent Sat night after the awards ceremony. need to speak with Carnival committee.
…and now ryan wants to build a booth… and Freeson wants to take the fence.

DKL talks to the new members about the sitcom project.
We talk about the dolly.
DKL says we need to get a final list of the items we need to get for the dolly project. DKL asks Ted and Ryan to go to home depot. Asks them to print out reference. Ryan appears to feel that for this project half of it is just going to Home depot and getting the material. Ted and Ryan want to go to home depot on sunday.
DKL asks… what do people think of doing a group trip to a few of the movie showing at the three rivers film festival. Tickets are 15 for the opening night!
Ryan suggests a book club for movies idea. We talk Spartacus for a while. Don discusses the most uncomfortable scene ever in Spartacus. Ryan talks about a film, "Wasp" that he wants to show.
DKL says he'll send an email to the deist, listing a few things that look good for a group of us to go to. We'll tally votes about what we want to see.
Benji is apparently filming Tooth Fairy this weekend.
Ryan has made a new layout for the website. It looks pretty spiffy.

benji showed off tooth fairy - pretty well received.
dkl suggests we start working on the dolly system, this weekend. ted wants to do it sunday. mubariz, terry, and benji express interest. it will go down sunday afternoon.
felix instigates a tangent to look up a girl who needs a performance of hers at the frame to be filmed. felix kind of makes an ass of himself
dkl asks people to help him early tomorrow morning to help shoot buggy practice. ted volunteers.
ryan discusses his idea for a film festival theme: missed connections. we(and other submitters) make films of missed connection posts on craigslist, and then at the festival invite people who have written them or think they were written about them.
ryan also talks about going to talk to sdc for providing prize money for the int'l short film fest.

We discuss what we're doing about the track system.
We can get everything from the home depot save the skateboard wheels.
We all discuss the logistics of making and building.
Felix shot stefan with a fake gunned he caused a scene
Ryan was being ridiculously bigoted.
anna kicks a chair at DKL for confusing Japanese for Chinese language.
Felix is going to shoot on the weekend of Dec. 5 or 6th.
Don is going tomorrow to pick stuff up for the track system. Ted wants to go with him.
